Basel IV: Challenges, Implementation and Impact5 February 2020 Central London |
The arrival of 2020 means there are less than two years left on the countdown clock for implementing the new capital rules commonly known as “Basel IV”. The rules will come into effect on 1 January 2022 with further phased in. Basel IV will change almost all RWA calculations, whether using IRB or STD approach. For individual banks, it might lead to not only substantially different capital requirements but a profound effect on bank’s portfolio management approach and even an entire business model. The discussion will be focused on challenge of the new regime and its potential impact.
